Q - WHY DO I MAKE PENS?
A - Shortly after my accident, the pain clinic advised me to get a hobby that I can use as a means of distracting my mind from the chronic pain I suffer.
Q - DO I SELL PENS THAT I HAVE MADE?
A - No, is the answer! Any finished pens are donated to charity to use as prizes at events.
Q - HOW CAN I AFFORD TO BUY PEN MAKING SUPPLIES THEN?
A - After smoking for nearly 30 years, to the delight and amazement of my wife I stopped!
To keep me stopped and as an incentive my wife gives me some `cigarette money` that I buy penmaking supplies with.
Q - HOW MANY PENS DO I MAKE?
A - Not many at all, last year I only finished two which went to a very grateful Alzheimer`s charity.
Q - HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE ME TO MAKE A PEN?
A - Due to my physical and mental health issues it takes me forever to finish one, each task is split into little steps, so when I feel up to it I pop into the workshop and try to complete one of the steps. I always have a pen or two at an unfinished stage needing worked on.
Q - WHERE IS YOUR WORKSHOP?
A - Ten paces from my house back door, if I had to drive over to a workshop I would have packed in my hobby long ago.
Q - WHY DO I HAVE A WEBSITE?
A - I started my website many years ago, I built it myself as other penmakers I talked to online had one, many now use Facebook etc. but as I use my website as a photo gallery to show others my work I would like to keep it running, plus I have the penmaker.co.uk name that a few people want to have, over my dead body! lol
Q - WHY NOT JUST STOP MAKING PENS AND DO SOMETHING ELSE?
A - I have contemplated this many times, however, as I have been making pens for many years I have accumulated so much that I would never get anything near how much I paid for it all.
